The town of Banff is the eastern gateway to the Canadian Rockies and a hugely popular base for people looking for a ski holiday with it all. Banff Ski Resorts
There are three resorts accessed from Banff, namely Norquay, Sunshine and Lake Louise which are all available on the Ski Big 3 lift pass, and can be reached by the regular shuttles from town (free with your lift pass).
A popular family ski and snowboard resort, Mount Norquay is about a 15 minute drive for the picturesque town of Banff. Mount Norquay has a great selection of varied terrain, from easy beginner runs for those learning to ski and snowboard, to steep double black diamonds. It is the only resort with night skiing, which includes a floodlit terrain park that snowboarders and freestyle skiers will love. There is also a tube run at the resort, great for some alternative fun for kids and adults alike.
Sunshine Village is about 25 minutes from Banff and boasts to have Canada’s best snow. The average snowfall is over 9 metres, so there are lots of powder days to be had. Sunshine is an ideal mountain for intermediate snowboarders and skiers which offers plenty of wide open terrain, easy groomers and a several steeps for those looking for a challenge. For extreme skiers and riders, Delirium Dive offers some serious vertical off the Mt Lookout ridge and down the face of the mountain. Check the restrictions and ensure you have the proper equipment before you take this run!
