Australian ski resorts are well renowned
for having quality facilities and accommodation, with a wide
variety of terrain to suit skiers and snowboarders of all levels.
Whilst the mountain ranges in Australia do not have the lofty
heights found on other continents, they still have plenty on offer
in terms of steep terrain, long runs and snowfalls. Snow coverage
in Australia is usually the best in August, however with state of
the art snowmaking facilities the rest of the season from the
Queen’s Birthday opening weekend to the October Long Weekend,
there's still great skiing on.
Australia has 5 major ski resorts in the
Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales and Victoria. Each resort
offers a range of accommodation, from ski in ski out lodges and
apartments to 5 star hotels. Each resort has its own unique village
atmosphere. Activities and nightlife cater to family ski holidays,
fun ski trips with friends or a romantic weekend in the snow. If
you're looking for cheaper alternatives, try off snow accommodation
in the town of Jindabyne, just 30 minutes from the resorts of
Thredbo or Perisher, and an easy drive each morning.
